Squamish's Pat Richard zoomed to yet another victory at the Rallye Perce-Neige in Maniwaki, Que., on Feb. 2 and 3.
Driving with his new co-driver Rob Fagg, Richard gained 22 points in a trouble-free win during the first event of the 2013 Canadian Rally Championship (CRC) season.
"The car ran flawlessly," Richard told the Subaru Canada website. "Now we have two wins in a row. This speaks volumes to the upgrades we made last year. The tides have turned. If we can keep going, it's going to be a fantastic year."
It was the first-ever race for the team of Richard and Fagg, who has a wealth of competition in the rally car world in his native United Kingdom. What made the win even more remarkable was the fact that Richard and Fagg had only met the day before.
"Rob did a great job, especially for his first event on the ice and snow," Richard said.
The duo edged out Steeve Hobbs and Jean Mathieu Tremblay to take first place.
"We didn't have any pressure," he said of the race. "We always had our plan. We were going to take it easy on the first stages I don't believe there's any reason to go faster than you have to go to finish first."
The next CRC event for Richard and the rest of the tour is the Rallye Baie Des Chaleurs on June 29 and 30 in New Richmond, Que.
