The rocks and brooms are ready to fly at the Howe Sound Curling Club.
The club announced that Friday nights will mark the return of the mixed league, which takes place on Friday evenings from November to February.
The 12-week league is being offered exclusively to interested participants, who may be new or lacking experience in the sport. Stats are not kept and all equipment is provided, along with free lessons.
If Friday doesn't work for you, the club also has a Monday evening program in which participants curl six times and free lessons are also provided.
Mondays will also feature the Charity League, which is designed to introduce groups, small businesses and organizations to the game. Charity teams curl every third week from November to mid-March and all the equipment is provided. All teams who finish in the top half of the final standings get a chance to donate half of their initial entry fee to a charity of their choice.
The traditional Wednesday night men's league and Tuesday night women's league are already well underway.
The club is also looking forward to the Ladies' and Men's Bonspiel, which takes place Nov. 18 to 20. The $250 entry fee includes all the weekend's matches, plus a dinner at the club on the Saturday evening. Teams will be split into four different divisions based on skill and experience and there will be several door prizes. Interested teams are encouraged to sign up by Oct. 28.
