Squamish's Lauren Rosser finished 27th in her first event at the UCI Mountain Bike and Trials World Championships this week in Champ茅ry, Switzerland.
Competing in the Junior Women's cross-country race on Wednesday (Aug. 31), Rosser finished in one hour, nine minutes, 51 seconds, 12:21 behind winner Linda Indergand of Switzerland. Rosser was the fourth-fastest Canadian in the race, trailing Fr茅d茅rique Trudel of Breakyville, Que. (12th), Andr茅anne Lanthier-Nadeau of Quebec City (16th) and Hayley Smith of Uxbridge, Ont. (22nd).
Rosser, the Canadian champion in downhill, is also a member of the Canadian downhill team competing at the world championships, which continue through Sunday (Sept. 4).
Also on Wednesday, Canada's cross-country relay team, comprised of Catharine Pendrel of Kamloops, Max Plaxton of Victoria, Evan McNeely of Kingston, Ont., and Alexandre Vialle of Pr茅vost, Que., placed seventh. France won the relay event.
