Rugby Eagles find their home

New Rugby League team gearing up for debut

The Sea to Sky Eagles Rugby League Football Club finally has a place to call its own.

The Eagles announced that Mamquam Elementary School will be the club's home field for regular season games and practices for the 2012 season.

The season kicks off on May 12 when the Eagles host the Kelowna Crows. Players will get a chance to impress Andy Blackburn, the head coach of the B.C. Bulldogs Provincial Rep team, who will attend the game and scout players to play nationally.

After the home opener, the Eagles will travel to South Surrey on May 26 to take on the Surrey Beavers. The club's second home game is on June 2 when the Bayside Sharks come to town.

There are five teams confirmed for the first-ever B.C. Rugby League competition and teams will play each other once in the four-game regular season. Training for the Eagles takes place at Mamquam Elementary School every Sunday at 1 p.m. Head coach Ally Mac said anyone interested in joining the team can contact him by email at [email protected].
