Starting in May, there will be a brand new way for 麻豆社国产residents to experience competition on the trails.
Run 麻豆社国产is a newly formed not-for-profit running series run by the community for the community. It鈥檚 the brainchild of established 麻豆社国产runner and trainer Jen Segger along with event planner and FEAT Canada speaker series founder Sean Verret, also of Squamish.
The series consists of four races: Loop the Lakes on May 23, the Shannon Basin Loop on June 13, the Sea to Sky Scramble on June 27 and the Skyline Ridge Half Marathon on Oct. 10.
Segger created and ran the Loop the Lakes since taking it over in 2011 and also designed the Skyline Ridge race atop the Sea to Sky Gondola, which debuted last year. The Scramble and the Shannon Basin races are both new to Squamish.
Verret said he and Segger also want to help out locally with the Give Back program. They promise to use proceeds from the events to offer grants and scholarships or support local programs that could use a boost.
It all kicks off with the Loop the Lakes run at Alice Lake on May 23. Participants can run an eight-kilometre, 15-kilometre or 21-kilometre race, and the popular free kids race also returns for 2015.
