Two local riders are heading to the B.C. Summer Games.
Alysha Russell and Robyn Marjoribanks, both members of the 麻豆社国产Valley Equestrian Association (SVEA), qualified for the Games and will represent Zone 5 at the event in Surrey from July 19 to 22.
Russell and her mount Wind Wauk Her as well as Marjoribanks and her mount Calypso are longtime local residents. According to the SVEA, both riders have worked hard for many years to earn the opportunity. The SVEA also wished both riders well and noted that members of the group will be cheering them on from the sidelines at the Games.
The duo will compete against 46 other athletes aged 13 to 18 on the Cloverdale Fairgrounds. Equestrian takes place on all three days in the morning, with medals being awarded after the competition.
