Playing the dangerous game of catch-up hockey seemed to cost the Â鶹Éç¹ú²úEagles Bantam Rep hockey team on Saturday (Feb. 1).
Â鶹Éç¹ú²úlost 5-3 to the Ridge Meadows Rustlers. After tying the game twice in the first period, the Eagles couldn't climb back into the game.
Ridge Meadows got on the board just 25 seconds into the game but Â鶹Éç¹ú²úreplied 25 seconds after that when Luke Parry tied it after being set up by Callum MacDonald and goalie Jason Hoerger.
The Rustlers took the lead back at 10:12 but the Eagles again answered 32 seconds later when Nick Sutherland scored, with Gabe Kryzanowski and Owen Reith drawing the helpers. But the momentum was short-lived when the Rustlers added a third goal with a little more than two minutes left to escape the first period with a 3-2 lead.
Ridge Meadows blasted a goal from the point early into the second period to make it 4-2 but the Eagles again got within one when Reith scored a shorthanded goal after being set up by Kevin Ranada. But Â鶹Éç¹ú²úgot into more penalty trouble in the second period and Ridge Meadows took a two-goal lead after connecting on a two man with just over two minutes to go.
Both teams failed to score in the third period and the Rustlers skated away with a 5-3 win. The Bantam Rep club hits the ice in Â鶹Éç¹ú²úevery Saturday at 7 p.m. For more information on local minor hockey, visitwww.squamishminorhockey.com.
