Saints lose first game of season

Flag football club falls to Raiders, 16-0

The undefeated streak is over for the Whistler Saints.

The Squamish-Whistler-Pemberton flag football club dropped its first game of the regular season North Shore Football League game with a 16-0 loss to the North Vancouver Raiders on Monday (Oct. 14).

The Raiders scored touchdowns in the first and second quarters, which proved to be enough to hang on for the win. Joshua McKenzie led the Saints offensively with 40 yards rushing and Liam Forsyth was a stalwart defensively with five tackles.

Whistler dropped to five wins and one loss, but remains in first place in its division.

The Saints will next host the North Vancouver 49ers on Sunday (Oct. 20). Kickoff is scheduled for 10 a.m. at 麻豆社国产Elementary School. The two teams last met on Sept. 22 in North Vancouver, with the Saints picking up a 20-12 victory.
