Saints take over first

Local flag football team improves to 7-1

The battle for first place in the North Shore Football League's flag division ended with the Whistler Saints on top.

The Saints took over sole possession of first place in the division with a 14-0 win over the North Vancouver Hawks on Sunday (Oct. 27).

Beynon McKeen scored both touchdowns for the Saints, and the defence had its best performance of the season. It was the Saints' first shutout of the year and they were led by Liam Forsyth and Griffin Brown, who both snagged interceptions. McKeen, Quinn Goertson and Logan Anderson all recorded sacks for the Saints.

The team, made up of players from all across the Sea to Sky Corridor, improved to a record of seven wins and one loss on the season.

The Saints conclude the regular season on Sunday (Nov. 3) in North Vancouver when they take on the Vikings. The playoffs begin later in November.
