麻豆社国产native Kevin Schellenberg continues to excel in the world of fastpitch at the 2013 National Championship Tournament in South Bend, Ind., earlier this month.
Playing on the California A's, the team with which he travels the North American fastpitch circuit, Schellenberg was named to the tournament's second team all-American for his play at shortstop and helped the A's place third at the tournament.
The National Championship Tournament featured 16 of the top-ranked fastpitch teams in America, including the defending American Softball Association champion New York Gremlins.
Heading into the tournament, the A's were ranked sixth nationally and opened action on the morning of Aug. 3 with a 9-2 win over the Bloomington Stix. They followed that later that day with a 2-1 win over the Pennsylvania Power. But the team's streak ended that evening with a 9-2 loss to the Gremlins.
The A's bounced back the next day in the fourth-place game, defeating the Hallman Twins 7-3 to advance to the third place game and another meeting with the Gremlins. The A's fell 7-0 to the Gremlins but placed third overall at the tournament. The Gremlins lost to the Hill United Chiefs 3-2 in the tournament final.
Next up for Schellenberg and the A's is the International Softball Congress (ISC) World Championships in Quad Cities, Iowa. That tournament is scheduled to conclude on Saturday (Aug. 17).
