A brand new cycling series is set to kick off in 麻豆社国产next month.
The Sea to Sky Enduro Series features a total of six races throughout the Sea to Sky Corridor and it debuts locally with The Gryphon race on May 3.
Cycling groups from North Vancouver (NSMBA), 麻豆社国产(麻豆社国产Enduro), Whistler (WORCA) and Pemberton (PVTA) came together to create the series and all proceeds from the events will help trail builders in each community.
According to the 麻豆社国产Enduro group鈥檚 website, an enduro race typically consists of three to five timed stages which take place on technical, generally descending terrain. The stages are linked by predominantly ascending connecting stages.
Race details for The Gryphon are not being released until May 1 at 5 p.m. but there will be a total of five timed stages and the rider with the lowest overall time will be named the winner. It all gets underway on May 3 at 10 a.m., with final riders expecting to cross the finish line at 3 p.m.
After the race, there will be post-race celebrations at The Living Room, with live entertainment, appetizers and drinks. Awards and other prizes will also be handed out at the after party.
The Gryphon will go down rain or shine and costs $80 to register. Another option for riders is to pair up The Gryphon with the other Squamish-based race, The Mock Turtle, for $150. The Mock Turtle race occurs on July 5.
Other races in the Sea to Sky Enduro Series include: Pemberton (May 17), Wade鈥檚 Excellent Adventure in North Vancouver on May 24 and Whistler races on June 28 and July 6.
Organizers are looking for volunteers to help with The Gryphon and The Mock Turtle. Those interested can contact race directors Melissa Sheridan at [email protected] or Dylan Smith at [email protected].
