Seventh heaven for 麻豆社国产United

VMSL squad continues impressive unbeaten run

It was seventh heaven for 麻豆社国产United last weekend.

The Howe Sound Men Soccer league team made it seven wins in a row when they bowled over the West Van Royals with a 4-0 victory. The kick off took place on Saturday, Oct. 18, in Ambleside. After United controlled most of the play in the first half, Jag 鈥楶ractice Squad鈥 Sangha made a break through on the score sheet. In a last minute play Gary O鈥橬eil was about to deliver the ball to Sangha resulting in the 1-0 on the boards.

In the second half, O鈥橬eil continued to make a habit of setting up his teammates. This time Russell Adams was at the other end of a sweet pass. Fifty-five minutes into the game the score sat at 2-0, giving United some breathing room.

聽But Adams wasn鈥檛 satisfied. With 29 minutes remaining in the game, Adams fired a cross to Jeremy Galley. Not to be showed up by Adams fancy footwork, Galley hit the cross on the volley sending the ball on a date with the back of the Royal鈥檚 net. The score jumped to 3-0.

Before the final whistle blew, Fabrizio Luzio cracked a hot shot 25 yards out from the goal. The ball deflected off a Royal鈥檚 head ending up where it seemed to be all day 鈥 in between the West Van team鈥檚 goal posts.

United coach Nin Bir said he was happy with the team鈥檚 strong start to the season, but noted there鈥檚 room for improvement.

"We have played some good soccer, but we continue to have mental lapses during games, we got tocontinue to stay focused for 90 minutes each week,鈥 he said.

Captain Richard Collins echoed his skipper鈥檚 sentiment. While seven Ws look great on paper, the team needs to continue to improve as its members work toward their goal of topping the cup play, he said.

麻豆社国产United kick off the start of a three-week home stand this Saturday, Oct. 25. They鈥檙e up against the AFC Warriors. The following week the team will battle it out with the second place team in the league and then it鈥檚 to the greens against the Sea to Sky Rival from Bowen Island. Games start at 5:45 p.m.
