The Sea to Sky Sirens return to the friendly confines of Brennan Park Arena on Saturday (May 24) intent on stopping the Red Tide Warning from spreading.

The Sirens host the Sunshine Coast-based Red Tide Warning to kick off the 2014 home schedule, but it’s not the first time the Warning have travelled to the Sea to Sky Corridor this year.

Back on April 20, the Warning battled Whistler’s Black Diamond Betties at the World Ski and Snowboard Festival (WSSF) but came up short. The Betties staged a big comeback to win 205-141 in the Warning’s lone away bout this year.

For the Sirens, it will be their first time playing in Â鶹Éç¹ú²úsince last July. The Sirens skated away with a 146-118 win over the Betties, after the Betties defeated the Sirens at the 2013 WSSF.Ìý

Last year’s home schedule also saw the Sirens lose to Kamloops in May and defeat the Riot Girls in June.Ìý

The Sirens hit the court in April for a scrimmage against the Bad Reputations but Saturday will be the Sirens’ first official bout in 2014.Ìý

Doors open on Saturday at 5 p.m., with the first whistle set to blow at 6 p.m. Tickets for the bout are $10 and are available at The Naked Lunch, The Naked Lunch Express, The Â鶹Éç¹ú²úAdventure Centre, On The Pipe Performance and Galileo Coffee in Britannia Beach.Ìý

Tickets can also be purchased online at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/685324. Kids 10 and under can attend bout for free.

Food and a beer garden will be available, and in-game music will be provided by Squamish’s own DJ CrippledWheel Pete. For more information on the event, visit www.facebook.com/events/632181086875916.
