This past Saturday, the Sea to Sky Sirens had their first roller derby match of the year against the Terminal City B-Side but came up short. They did, however, welcome back a couple of players who broke their legs last season.
This Saturday at 6 p.m. the Sirens team up with the Whistler team to become the Apex Pistols to take on Comox鈥檚 Brick House Betties in a battle at the Whistler Conference Centre. The event is part of the Whistler Ski and Snowboard Festival.
The 麻豆社国产team is without its usual home this year, as the surface inside Brennan Park is being replaced.
My First Fondo
RBC GranFondo is offering My First Fondo 2016 as a way to get ready for this year鈥檚 Vancouver-to-Whistler event on Sept. 10.
My First Fondo is a training program designed for people new to riding or renewing their love of road biking. Certified coaches will guide participants through a 16-week program to teach basic riding skills and prepare riders physically and mentally to complete the RBC GranFondo Whistler.
Depending on road cycling experience and personal goals, beginner and intermediate levels are offered.聽The sessions start on May 24 at several locations. For more information, see granfondowhistler.com.
Cycling BC coaching clinic
Cycling BC is facilitating two single-day coaching clinics in Squamish, which will allow participants to coach introductory cycling sessions through Cycling BC鈥檚 iRide program or local cycling clubs.
The first happens April 23 and will cover the Community Initiation Let鈥檚 Ride and basic cycling skills course. The follow-up will be June 11, and participants will complete the Ready to Race: BMX skills and tactics course.

Touch rugby is a great way to work on fitness, hand and eye coordination, socialize and build on teamwork skills. Play will be held on Thursday evenings.
