A jump up of two weight classes didn鈥檛 prove to be a winning formula for Squamish鈥檚 Cole Smith.
Smith, the Battlefield Fight League bantamweight champion, challenged top lightweight contender Christian Tremayne for the vacant lightweight title belt at BFL 36 at the River Rock Casino in Richmond on Saturday, May 30, but came up short.
Smith and Tremayne battled to a five-round decision and the judges scored the fight 48-47 in Tremayne鈥檚 favour.

Despite the loss, Smith still holds the BFL bantamweight title and now sports a record of four wins and three losses.
