Soccer players strike silver

Â鶹Éç¹ú²úU12 girls soccer team takes on Lower Mainland

The Â鶹Éç¹ú²úU12 girls soccer travel team have come home with silver medals around their necks.

The team placed second at the 31st Annual Chilliwack Youth Soccer Tournament on Aug. 29-30.

The team showed true grit to make it to the finals and medal game, manager Stacey Spencer wrote in an email to The Â鶹Éç¹ú²ú.

The players lost their first game against Chilliwack Attack, won their second game in a shutout against Chilliwack Strikers and went on to win the third game against Central City Breakers.

They fought hard in the finals against the Chilliwack Attack, Spencer noted. The game was kept at a standstill –  a 1-1 tie – until 10 minutes remained in the final game.

The Â鶹Éç¹ú²úteam’s roster included Ava Kleban, Carly Ellis, Chase Capicik, Elly Hoskin, Emma Perkins, Genoa Van Oostwaard, Kaitlyn Muller, Lily Boucher, Lucy McKeen, Manroop Shergill, Piper Savjord and Ravneet Parveen.

The league kicks off this Saturday with the team playing at home against WVSC Red Spuraways.
