There were some big victories at this year鈥檚 Soccerfest tournament.
The Shockers managed to capture the win in the men鈥檚 open division after several hard-fought days.
B & B Excavating took second place and team America took third.
鈥淚t was a really good weekend,鈥� said Jose Oreamuno, who heads the event.
鈥淧erfect finals,鈥� he added.
On the ladies鈥� open, locals were able to put on a great show.
The 麻豆社国产Strikers played hard, making it to the semi-finals, but were eventually bumped off.
Ultimately, they took third place.
鈥淭hey won every game before that 鈥� they blow up every game 鈥� but when it came to the semi-finals, they couldn鈥檛 do it,鈥� Oreamuno said.
Fulcrum placed first in the ladies鈥� open, with the Goochie Gang following in second.
There was, however, a bright spot for 麻豆社国产women in the recreation division. Team 麻豆社国产United took first place in the ladies鈥� over-30 category, beating out the Chilliwack Wildcats, which came in second, and the bronze-winning Jaguars. As for the weather, it looked like the sun was smiling on Soccerfest this year. Despite a forecast of rain, there were some bright spots for the event.
鈥淚t was unbelievable luck and changing weather,鈥� said Oreamuno. 鈥淚t was pouring 鈥� I had to go home and change clothes because it was soaking, and then we wake up on Saturday with a cloudy day, no rain. And then Sunday it was the cream on top of the pie, it was a beautiful day...It was a really good weekend.鈥�
