Canadian Olympic athletes weren't the only ones taking home the gold last weekend, as several 麻豆社国产residents snagged gold, silver and bronze at the B.C. Winter Games in Mission and the Callaghan Valley from Feb. 20 to 23.
Squamish's Hunter Sones took home a gold in the eight-kilometre senior boys biathlon and a bronze in the six km sprint. It's not the first time Sones has medalled at the event, as he won three bronze medals in biathlon at the 2012 B.C. Winter Games in Vernon.
The other gold medallist from 麻豆社国产was alpine para-athlete Alex Cairns, who captured first place in the alpine ski slalom para division. Cairns also competed in the able-bodied slalom event, finishing 35th.
Sorsha Henning continued Squamish's strong showing in biathlon, winning silver in the four km junior girls sprint. She also competed in the six km race and finished in fifth place.
Squamish's other medal winner was Nathan Romanin, who collected the bronze in the male slalom event. Other locals who competed included: skiers Maja Woolley (eighth in alpine slalom and 24th in giant slalom) and Jack Cormack (14th place in alpine slalom).
