Year 3 of the Howe Sound Sounders rugby club鈥檚 re-launch proved to be a memorable one for the program.

The Sounders captured their first ever win in league play on April 3, qualified for the AAA playoffs in May and competed against some of the province鈥檚 best in both league and exhibition contests.

The club concluded the season on May 20 with a year-end wrap-up and intra-squad game, along with recognizing some of the team鈥檚 strong individual efforts with player awards.

Dominik Kalita was named as the most valuable forward, with Ben Wade being awarded the most valuable back. The Sounders also recognized Addie Robertson as the most improved forward and Wesley Embree as most improved back. The award for the most sportsmanlike player went to Philip Morris and Jan-Louis Wiedmann was named the rookie of the year.

鈥淗uge thanks to all my athletes for all their hard work, dedication and willingness to learn throughout the season,鈥 said coach Sarah Lepine. 鈥淲e had so much fun and the improvement shown by some of these players was truly phenomenal.鈥
