Two graduating seniors from the Howe Sound Sounders football squad got one last opportunity to shine as high school athletes on the gridiron - but this time on opposing teams.
Linebacker Josh Watts and defensive lineman Tyson Thompson were invited to the 2013 Senior Bowl to compete against some of the best young football players in the province. Watts suited up as a member of Team West, while Thompson hit the field with Team East.
Watts and Thompson traveled to Coquitlam to take part in the official practice on Thursday (March 21) and the Senior Bowl game on Saturday (March 23). The practice saw three members of the B.C. Lions - Travis Lulay, Dean Valli and Jabar Westerman join in and share their expertise with the attendees.
Thompson was named to the top defensive line at the practice session and received a Lions rugby shirt for his efforts. But it was Watts who got the last laugh as he and his Team West teammates beat Team East 45-10.
