The early season struggles continue for the Howe Sound Sounders junior boys basketball team.
Howe Sound hosted the Rockridge Ravens from West Vancouver on Jan. 22 but fell 58-38. The Sounders remain winless in North Shore League (NSL) action.
Head coach Max Roy said free throw shooting and defensive rebounding cost the Sounders the win.
鈥淲e went six for 16 from the free throw line,鈥 he said. 鈥淲hen we miss that many we are not putting ourselves into a position to win. I was happy with our initial defence but unhappy with our defensive rebounding. They were quite big, but that is not an excuse for us.鈥
He praised the play of Sounders forward Bryce Northey.
鈥淗e had a great game,鈥 he said. 鈥淗e is the kind of kid who can score at will but we were missing his twin brother [Dylan Northey] due to the flu.鈥
The Sounders next take on the Pemberton Red Devils in the Spud Valley on Jan. 29.聽
