The first game of the year turned out to be a learning experience for the Howe Sound Sounders junior boys basketball team.
Howe Sound lost 43-26 to the Sutherland Secondary Sabres on Dec. 1 and head coach Max Roy said the loss should become a learning experience for his team.
鈥淚t was our first game of the season and we now know what we need to work on,鈥 he said. 鈥淭he boys were nervous because it was the first game of the year.鈥
Roy said he was pleased with the team鈥檚 defensive play, but rebounding was an issue against the Sabres.
鈥淲e played good defense, but had problems rebounding,鈥 he said. 鈥淲e gave up too many second chance points.鈥
He said he thinks the team should begin to gel as the season continues.
鈥淚 expect this team to be much better as the season goes on this year,鈥 he added.
The junior boys returned to the hardwood on Wednesday, Dec. 10 when they played Collingwood at home, but results were not available by press time. Check the next edition of The 麻豆社国产 for results from that game.聽
