The lengthy road trip is over for the Howe Sound Sounders senior boys basketball team and they're probably thankful to be returning to the friendly confines of the Howe Sound gym on Thursday (Jan. 30).
The Sounders lost 60-50 to the Seycove Secondary School Seyhawks on Tuesday (Jan. 21) and head coach Max Roy wasn't thrilled with his team's efforts.
"I was disappointed in how we played," he told The Chief in an email. "We were more than capable of winning the game, but foul trouble and injuries got us into trouble. We are capable of playing much better and hopefully we will be peaking for playoffs."
Roy said he was pleased with the play of Grade 10 students Connor Dawson and Nav Tatla, especially considering they were excelling against older opponents.
"They are two Grade 10 students who went out, played hard and made good decisions," he said. "HSS basketball is lucky to have these guys for the next few years. The experience they are getting this year is allowing them to grow very quickly."
The senior boys return to the hardwood at Howe Sound on Thursday to take on the West Vancouver based Collingwood Cavaliers. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:45 p.m.
