The next time the Howe Sound Sounders hit the field it鈥檒l be for keeps and against high school competition.

But the annual Sounders Alumni gathering turned out into a nice tune-up for the 2014 regular season, with the current Sounders edging past Sounders 9-6 in the cumulative score.

It all went down at Howe Sound field on Saturday, Aug. 30, and the format was altered for this year with squads of current and past Sounders competing against each other in a variety of drills and a seven on seven scrimmage.

Action kicked off with the sled contest, in which a team of four had to push a four-man tackling sled from one end of the field to the other. The experience of the past Sounders came through, as they won the opening contest and earned two points.

Next up was the bag jump, which saw four participants from each side jump as many times back and forth over the bag in 90 seconds. The current Sounders excelled at this contest and picked up one point with the win.

The obstacle course followed and four players on each time were tasked to complete several tasks as quickly as possible. The speed of the alumni shone through in this event and they earned another two points.

The current Sounders proved that punt returning could be a strength for the team as they dominated the punt return contest to score two points. They also proved their team unity with a win in the seven on seven scrimmage with a win and four points.

Alumni bounced back with a win in the dogfight contest and two more points but the current Sounders clinched the 9-6 victory after winning the tug of war contest over their elders.

Sounders officials also confirmed to The 麻豆社国产 that issues between the teachers and the provincial government will not stop the start of the regular season. Howe Sound is scheduled to
kick off the 2014 regular season on Saturday (Sept. 6) at 1:30 p.m. against Argyle Secondary.

The 麻豆社国产 will have continued coverage of the Howe Sound Sounders football club.
