麻豆社国产soccer player Shondra Martin carried the FIFA flag into BC Place Stadium for the first two games of the Women鈥檚 World Cup in Vancouver on June 8. The 16-year-old was selected as a flagbearer and got the news through a website post while in physics class at Sentinel Secondary where she is attending the Premier Soccer Academy this year. The flagbearers did 10 hours of rehearsals before the first game to ensure they could effectively maneuver the large blue and yellow flags out of the tunnel, over the game ball and TV camera, and then around the sideline barriers and into the proper position on the field for the opening ceremonies.听Martin got to re-live the experience at the sold-out game on June 16 with more than 55,000 seats filled when the USA played Nigeria, and will again carry the flag at the Round 16 game on June 23 in Vancouver.

Hitmen whack Patriots
The Howe Sound Hitmen advanced to the Pineapple Bowl after a win over the Patriots on Saturday. The Bantam football club beat out the Patriots 20 to 16 in the semi final match. The tram was down early 14 to 7 early in the game, and then the team tightened up on defence, When Jhett Verner sealed the game with a late fourth-quarter interception. Verner came through with two interceptions for the game, an two, one-point conversions. TDs came from Luc Pederson and two from Reniel Belandreas.
