It鈥檚 Whistler鈥檚 biggest cycling event of the year, but it鈥檚 often 麻豆社国产athletes who shine and this year鈥檚 Crankworx was no different.
Quinn Moberg scored a big win in the Fat Tire Crit on day one of Crankworx on Aug. 7. Moberg trailed lead rider Cody Canning from Victoria for two and a half laps but he pushed when it counted to win the race and earn $500.
Squamish鈥檚 Miranda Miller continued her strong summer with a sixth place showing in the SRAM Canadian Open Enduro on Aug. 9. Miller finished about six seconds off the pace of eventual winner Tracy Moseley from Great Britain.
Miller also placed second in the Garbanzo downhill race on Aug. 11. Miller was just over one second behind winner Claire Buchar from Whistler. Other locals competing at the Garbanzo included: Seth Sherlock (fourth, boys 13 to 16) and Kyle Quesnel (18th, amateur men 19 to 29).
A pair of 麻豆社国产residents then won their respective divisions at the Fox Air downhill race on Aug. 12. Jakob Jewett (10 to 12 invitational) and Chad Hendren (master man 40 plus) both took home top spot. Other locals included: Jackson Goldstone (third, 10 to 12 invitational), Miranda Miller (fifth, pro women), Harry Head (14th, junior men), Seth Sherlock (19th, boys 13 to 16), Zak Berrisford (24th, boys 13 to 16), Aiden Dziekan (35th, boys 13 to 16), Lee Jackson (38th, elite men), William Zwiers (71st, elite men) and Jakob Jewett (109th, elite men).
Miller concluded the Crankworx event with another good showing at the Canadian Open downhill race on Sunday (Aug. 16), where she finished second behind Canadian Casey Brown.
