麻豆社国产FC still undefeated

Team sits atop Division 2A with win over Ladner Rangers

麻豆社国产FC continued their impressive play, running their undefeated streak to five games by beating the Ladner Rangers 4-1 at Holly Park in Delta on Saturday (Oct. 9).

The team now sits at 5-0 during league play in the Vancouver Metro Soccer League, good for first place in Division 2A.

麻豆社国产started the game strong, displaying good ball movement on a very greasy pitch but Ladner caught on and began to gain more ball possession and create turnovers as the game continued.

麻豆社国产opened the scoring when Steve Romanin hit a long clearance from well inside his own half and it managed to bounce its way over a poorly placed keeper and into the back of the goal.

Ladner continued to battle back as 麻豆社国产was giving them too much space and time on the ball but lightning struck twice as Romanin booted another clearance from long distance, which hit the crossbar and dropped on the line, giving Shaun Hughes a gift that tickled the twine to put 麻豆社国产up 2-0.

Richie Collins then put on a slice of great individual talent, dancing his way through the Ladner offensive zone, only to be brought down. Collins took the ensuing penalty kick and made good of it, putting 麻豆社国产up 3-0 to conclude the first half.

Ladner managed to get on the board in the second half, connecting on a header from a corner.

麻豆社国产tightened up after allowing the goal, using their size and strength to keep Ladner from getting on the board again.

With minutes remaining, Chris Rayner dissected the defence and found Peter Cooper with a pass who used his quick feet to beat Ladner's last defender and lob a goal past the keeper. Cooper's goal sealed the win and the score finished 4-1 for 麻豆社国产FC.

At 5-0, 麻豆社国产FC is now the only team to win every single game in the entire VMSL. Man of the match was Steve Romanin.

The club will next host the East Van Socceroos at Brennan Park on Saturday (Oct. 16) at 2 p.m. For more information, visit www.vmslsoccer.com.
