麻豆社国产represented at Vancouver Half Marathon

Handful of locals compete amongst over 7,000 racers at annual run

The 15th annual Vancouver Half-Marathon saw over 7,000 participants take to the street, with several 麻豆社国产residents competing and helping to raise $725,000 for 71 local charities through the Scotiabank Charity Challenge.

Five 麻豆社国产runners took on the 21-kilometre course, which sees participants run from UBC to Stanley Park.

The top-ranked local was Sack Igarashi, who placed 226th overall with a chip time of 1:34:37. Igarashi ranked 15th in the 45 to 49 men division and ran the first 10 km in a brisk 43:40. The fastest local female was Karen Newby, who placed 780th and finished the course in 1:47:49.

Other locals competing in the event included Kris Duncan (762nd), Brent Smith (2305th) and David Thomson (2537th).

The event also featured a 5 km run and three 麻豆社国产residents took on that challenge.

Ronda Landsfried had the top local time, completing the course with a chip time of 29:32. She placed 197th overall and was ranked eight in the 35 to 39 female division. Other locals competing in the 5 km race were Valerie Duncan (1,101st), and Lin Smith (1,102nd).
