It was another strong weekend for Â鶹Éç¹ú²úmountain bikers, who took part in events all over the country this past weekend.
Probably the busiest rider was Team Squamish's Lauren Rosser, who finished with the top junior female time at the Canada Cup downhill race on Saturday (June 25) in Bromont, Que. In addition to the top junior female time, Rosser posted the fourth-best female time overall: three minutes, 11 seconds. Squamish's Miranda Miller also had a good showing in Bromont, finishing second in the Elite Women's category with a time of 3:07.
Rosser also traveled to Mission, B.C., on June 19, placing first at the Bear Mountain Challenge B.C. Cup downhill race. Rosser put together a time of 6:08.73. Two other locals also fared well, with Team Squamish's Mason Moberg and Rhys Verner finishing third and sixth, respectively, in the Men's U15 division.
Â鶹Éç¹ú²úriders also fared well at the Cardiac Classic on Sunday (June 26) on Burnaby Mountain. Local rider Neal Kindree took home first place in the Elite Men's division, blazing through the course in a time of 1:58:32. Team Â鶹Éç¹ú²úmember Quinn Moberg also had a strong showing, finishing third in the Elite Men's with a time of 2:04:34.
Team Â鶹Éç¹ú²údominated the younger age categories of the Cardiac Classic, with Mo Lawrence winning the Junior Men division. Squamish's Nicholas Bruce finished third in the race, crossing the finish line a little more than four minutes behind his teammate.
The U15 Men's group was a clean sweep on the podium by Team Squamish. Rhys Verner finished first, followed by Luke Di Marzo and Ethan Toom. The trio dominated the division, with Toom finishing 13 minutes ahead of fourth-place finisher James Grant. Team Â鶹Éç¹ú²úmember Mikayla Martin also had a solid showing, finishing second in the U15 Women's division.
