麻豆社国产riders excel at Panorama

Local mountain bikers clean up at downhill championships

It turned out to be a successful trip to the Rockies for several 麻豆社国产riders this past weekend.

The 2011 Canadian Downhill Mountain Bike Championships, which took place at Panorama, B.C. from July 21 to 24, allowed a number of local racers the opportunity to shine against competitors from across the country.

Team Squamish's Mason Moberg made an impact in the U15 division, placing first with a time of four minutes, 3.19 seconds. Moberg dominated his category, beating out the second-place racer by more than three seconds. Lauren Rosser continued a strong 2011, winning the Junior Women category and Squamish's Graham Beatty also picked up a first-place finish in the Masters division.

Miranda Miller came close, finishing less than a second behind Elite Women's winner Claire Buchar of Whistler and ending up in third place in her division. Miller improved significantly on her qualifying time and managed to move up a spot to podium at the event.

Other locals who competed in Panorama included; Lee Jackson (5th in U17 Expert Men), Kip Shortreed (10th in Junior Men) and Jordan Gostelli (24th in Junior Men).

But it wasn't just Panorama where local riders excelled. Kyle Quesnel capped off a solid week at Crankworx in Whistler with a bronze-medal finish in the giant slalom event on Friday (July 22).

Team 麻豆社国产riders also traveled to Edmonton for the Edmonton Canada Cup cross-country event on Saturday (July 23). Mo Lawrence was the top local rider, finishing in eighth place in the Junior Men's division with a time of one hour, 28 minutes, 56 seconds. Also competing in the same division were Quinn Moberg (9th) and Nick Bruce (16th).
