It may have been Whistler's gig, but several 麻豆社国产riders had strong performances at the annual Crankworx event that took place from Aug. 10 to 19.
Miranda Miller pocketed a $1,000 cheque after a second-place finish in the Pro Women's division of the Garbanzo Downhill race on Aug. 12. Miller finished a little over three seconds behind winner Casey Brown from Revelstoke and beat out third-place Claire Buchar of Whistler by three milliseconds. Also competing in the division was Lauren Rosser, who placed 13th.
The Boys division of the Garbanzo also has some local flavour as Rhys Verner posted the second-fastest time in the 13 to 15 age group. Verner's Team 麻豆社国产teammate Luke Di Marzo also had a strong seventh-place showing. Squamish's Veronika Voracek, competing in the Amateur Women's 19+ division, placed third with a time of five minutes.
Rhys and Verner also took part in the Air Downhill event on Aug. 15, placing fifth and 19th, respectively. Harry Head, another Team 麻豆社国产member, placed 38th. In the Junior Men division, Lee Jackson finished second and Jonathan Dempses placed 41st. And in the Pro Women's division, Rosser finished 10th.
The Jeep Canadian Open DH on Sunday (Aug. 19) saw Rosser place third and Miller finish fourth in the Pro Women division.
