Trio of local riders travel to Ontario, Europe to compete

Three weeks after excellent showings at the Orecrusher, 麻豆社国产riders Neal Kindree and Quinn Moberg posted impressive results further afield on the weekend.

The duo travelled to Hardwood Hills, Ont., to compete in the Canada Cup cross-country race three on Sunday (June 3). Kindree finished fourth in the Senior Elite/U23 Men's 36-kilometre race, crossing the line one minute, 26 seconds behind winner Geoff Kabush. Moberg placed third in the Junior Expert Men's 24-kilometre race and was one minute and 15 seconds behind winner Alexandre Vialle from Quebec.

麻豆社国产downhiller Miranda Miller placed 12th at the Val di Sole World Cup race in Italy on Sunday.

Miller, who will continue to compete in Europe for the next few weeks, told The Chief that she was pleased with her result.

"The track in Italy is considered one of the roughest and it was a ton of fun to ride and race," she wrote in an email. "My ankle wasn't ideal and I was riding more in defence than attack mode, but I just tried to keep it smooth and consistent. My goal changed from top 10 to simply qualify. My goal for the finals was to cross the line in first place - securing at least a top-15 finish. I ended up 12th, which I believe is my best result to date."

Miller will travel to Fort William, Scotland, for a World Cup event on June 9 and 10. Despite a sprained ankle she suffered late in May, she said she's confident heading to Scotland.

"I'm hoping to be able to race a little more aggressively in Fort William next weekend and aiming for a top-10 finish," she said. "Each track brings their own challenges and I'm looking forward to taking them on."
