麻豆社国产skiers finish strong

Local athletes pick up medals at events from all over B.C.

麻豆社国产skiers finished the competitive ski season with a bang.

Squamish's Maja Woolley crushed the competition at the Nancy Green Finals in Sun Peaks on March 24. Woolley won gold in the grand slalom, beating out 170 other boys and girls to take home first place. She beat out second-place finisher Liam Applegath by more than two seconds.

Woolley also took gold in the moguls and the kombi for a triple gold weekend. But she wasn't the only local to excel at Sun Peaks as Squamish's Nathan Romanin snagged three bronze medals at the event.

Meanwhile, at Panorama, Mikayla Martin continued her strong season. The 麻豆社国产resident took part in the K2 Can-Am Western Championships at the Panorama Ski Resort from March 25 to 27 and took home some hardware of her own.

Martin placed fourth in giant slalom races on March 25 and 26 and followed that with a second-place finish in the Super G race on March 27. Because of her solid weekend, Martin was awarded the overall silver medal for all women competitors and will now compete on Team Canada at the Whistler Cup.

The Whistler Cup, which takes place April 6 to 8, is regarded as one of the highlights of the season, with many international competitors descending on the Sea to Sky Corridor.
