BC Cup winner
Local Jessie McAuley, 16, won the BC Cup Downhill U17 Expert category this summer. There were six mountainbike races total with the first race in Kamloops in June and the last race ending the season in Fernie at the end of August.听
Cycling BC chooses the best five races for each candidate in each category. McAuley made podium with two firsts and three thirds for the BC Cup, and a second for the provincials in Whistler. He demonstrated the most consistency with all his podiums and won the BC Cup on points.
McAuley races with the Kovarik Racing Team, coached by Chris Kovarik and Claire Buchar, known for their World Cup racing careers.听
Another local, Don Vaneesteren, won the BC Cup Downhill for his category 50-59 years.

Dietz medals
Margreet Dietz took home two gold medals from the inaugural Americas Masters Games in Vancouver. Dietz, who also was the top local woman at the 麻豆社国产Days 8K race last month, was the top woman finisher in both the 10K road race and the half marathon road race.
The Americas Masters Games, an inclusive nine-day event, promote an active and healthy lifestyle by encouraging any and all participants from age 30 up. It took place from Aug. 26 to Sept. 4.
Track coaching course
Sea to Sky Athletics is hosting a Sport Coach NCCP course from Sept. 9 to 11.
An Introduction to Coaching Track & Field is ideal for the school educator/coach, club coach or parent. This weekend workshop is for those who are coaching seasonally (4鈥10 weeks a year and/or 2鈥3 sessions a week) and includes physical literacy skills, planning a practice, and an introduction to competition at the school, regional or provincial level.
