Gymkhana Results
The Â鶹Éç¹ú²úValley Equestrian Association held its gymkhana on Sunday. In the peewee category, Zoey Verloop was first with a time of 3:97:48 from her events, while Riley Adams was second at 5:23:44.
Among senior competitors, Rick McKinney was first at 1:35:05; Jenn Thiele, 2nd, 1:65:72; Tenny Orssich, 3rd, 2:17:45; Gail Hardy, 4th, 2:56:95; Krista Pitts, 5th, 2:84:51; Sheila Lacombe, 6th, 2:92:90; and Nicole Murray, 7th, at 3:62:17.
At the gymkhana, riders and their horses compete in different events, including barrels, a flag race, a stake race, bending and an obstacle course. Local riders will be getting ready for next month’s Buckle Series finale in Pemberton on Sept. 18.
Valleycliffe of the Dolls
The original mountain bike group ride is back for 2016. Presented by SORCA, Valleycliffe of the Dolls happens Aug. 27. It is a fun and challenging hike and bike tour of the granite and dirt maze that is Valleycliffe, and starts and finishes in Ravens Plateau. Registration is 10 a.m.; ride, 11 a.m. Registration proceeds support Â鶹Éç¹ú²úSearch and Rescue.
Sounders alum challenge
The Howe Sound Sounders are holding their alumni challenge on Aug. 27 where past Sounders are invited to take on the current team in an array of skills and drills competitions, followed by a flag game. The informal challenge is meant to be fun for all. It starts at 11 a.m.
Pirates’ provincials
The Â鶹Éç¹ú²úPirates had a successful provincial swim meet in Coquitlam over the weekend, with 38 performances that made the finals, seven medals and over 90 per cent best times.
