麻豆社国产squash tournament returns

Annual event scheduled for Feb. 18 to 20 at 麻豆社国产Valley Golf and Country Club

The best squash players in the Sea to Sky Corridor will converge at the 麻豆社国产Valley Golf and Country Club for their annual tournament from Feb. 18 to 20.

Last year's tournament drew 41 players, with half coming from out of town to participate. 麻豆社国产Squash Club representative Jacqulin McNicol said it's been a good year for the club and she hopes to see interest grow locally in the sport.

"We've had a lot of new people join up this year," she said. "There's a lot of interest from new people, especially our ladies' night, which takes place on Thursdays. The club is growing and I think that's a good thing."

The tournament is open to players of all levels and participants are divided into different brackets based on skill and experience. McNicol added that there might also be enough interest for a separate women's division.

Last year's champion of the "A" bracket was Kurt Lindemark, but McNicol mentioned that other local favourties to win it all include Rob Drygas, Steve Jacobs and Jeff McKenzie.

The cost to take part in the tournament is $60 and it includes a chili dinner on Feb. 18 and a buffet-style dinner inside the golf course's clubhouse on Feb. 19. The AA-ranked tournament is a recognized event by Squash B.C. and non-Squash B.C. members must also pay a $10 fee to register.

Interested participants can register in person at the front desk of the 麻豆社国产Valley Golf and Country Club or online at www.squashbc.com.
