Squamish鈥檚 Sofie Hill was absent for the 麻豆社国产Youth Triathlon earlier this month, but she made her presence known at the Whistler Kids of Steel triathlon on Saturday (May 24).
Hill finished first in the eight to nine girls division at the event, with a time of 18 minutes, eight seconds. She beat out second-place Isabella Elott from Whistler by more than two minutes to win top prize in the race that saw her swim 100 metres, bike two kilometers and run one km.听
Hill wasn鈥檛 the only local female who fared well in Whistler, as Hailey Gagne placed fourth in the same division. Gagne posted a time of 21:11 to follow her second-place showing at the 麻豆社国产Youth Triathlon on May 11.
Squamish鈥檚 Nicholas Klimchuk-Brown also competed in the 14 to 15 boys division and placed second with a time of 46:35. Klimchuk-Brown swam 300 m, biked 10 km and ran three km at the event. Klimchuk-Brown also placed second in the same division at the SYT.
Several 麻豆社国产adults also competed at the event, swimming 300 m, cycling 14 km and running four km and they included: Paul Smit (19th), Carol Zuckernick (27th), Marellie Wiebe (34th) and Katie Coombs (45th).
