There was a blue-and-yellow invasion in 麻豆社国产this past weekend.
The UBC Thunderbirds football team came to town to hold a preseason camp, with sessions at Quest University and Howe Sound field on both Saturday and Sunday (Aug. 17 and 18).
Birds head coach Shawn Olson said 麻豆社国产was a nice fit for the more than 100 players and staff who took part in the camp.
"We're always looking for opportunities to bring the team together and as a Canadian college team, we always deal with a lot of team turnover," he said. "There's a lot of new guys on our team this year and this was a good chance for the team to get away for a few days and bond."
The team arrived in town on Friday (Aug. 16) and did some fitness testing before hiking the Stawamus Chief. Saturday saw the group engage in a 9 a.m. practice session on the Quest University field, followed up by an 11 a.m. practice at Howe Sound field and a 7 p.m. practice back at Quest. On Sunday, the team held practices at 9 and 11 a.m. While not practicing, the T-Birds studied game film and discussed strategy on the Quest campus.
"We had the ability to get away and 麻豆社国产is beautiful and relatively close," he said. "And Quest is a gorgeous campus that had everything we needed. It's been a very good camp for us."
UBC will next head to Saskatoon for an exhibition game against the University of Saskatchewan Huskies on Friday (Aug. 23) and return to Vancouver for the team's home opener against the University of Calgary Dinos on Aug. 31.
