Dalton Thrower signed on the dotted line with the Montreal Canadiens on Friday (May 30).
The Â鶹Éç¹ú²úMinor Hockey Association (SMHA) product inked a three-year, entry-level deal with the Habs that sees him become property of the NHL club through the 2016-’17 season.
Thrower completed his fifth and final season in the WHL this year with the Vancouver Giants and recorded 39 points in 42 games. He also led the Giants with a +9 rating and had a team-high eight power play goals, but an ankle injury ended Thrower’s season back in January.
Montreal drafted Thrower with the 51st selection back in 2012 and were facing a June 1 deadline to sign him or Thrower could have had the ability to re-enter this year’s draft or sign elsewhere as a free agent.
Thrower spent his first four years in the WHL with the Saskatoon Blades, where he appeared in the 2013 Memorial Cup and the Top Prospects game in 2012.Â
