Tikes take over Brennan Park

H3/H4 tournament draws hundreds to Squamish

Brennan Park has been buzzing with activity in late December and early January, and the first weekend of 2015 was no exception.

The second annual H3 and H4 hockey tournament invaded 麻豆社国产from Jan. 1 to 4 and saw close to 20 teams battle it out.

Teams arrived from all over Metro Vancouver for the weekend, which was played like a jamboree with no official placing done at the conclusion of the tournament. Each team, made up of seven years olds (H3) or eight year olds (H4), played three or four games over the weekend.

麻豆社国产was well represented at the event, with one H3 team and two H4 team participating at the tournament.

The H3 squad kicked off the tournament on Jan. 1 with a 3-1 win over archrival Whistler, but later that day lost 3-1 to Coquitlam. The squad wrapped up the tournament on Friday (Jan. 2) with a 3-1 win over Chilliwack.

The two 麻豆社国产H4 clubs played four games apiece, and team two opened with an 11-3 loss to Surrey on Jan. 1 and also posted losses to Vancouver (6-2) on Friday, Langley (10-4) on Saturday (Jan. 3) and Chilliwack 7-6 on Sunday (Jan. 4).

Squamish鈥檚 H4 team one recorded a 7-6 win against Surrey on Jan. 1 and added losses to Chilliwack (5-4) on Friday and Vancouver (10-8) on Saturday. They met New Westminster on Sunday, but results from that game were not available at press time.

The Atom C tournament took over Brennan Park Arena from Dec. 27 to 29 and saw two 麻豆社国产teams battled it out against six teams from as far away as Portland.

The Langley Spitfires took home the tournament championship, defeating the Vancouver Thunderbirds 5-2 in the final on Dec. 29.

麻豆社国产Eagles C1 opened with a 14-1 loss to Langley on Dec. 27 and recorded losses to Cloverdale (11-2) and Vancouver (10-2) on Dec. 28. The C1 squad ended the tournament with a 10-1 loss to Port Moody in the silver semi-final game on Dec. 29.

The 麻豆社国产Eagles C2 club lost 14-0 to Langley on Dec. 27 and followed that up with losses to Portland (9-1) and Port Moody (4-2) on Dec. 28. The Eagles concluded the tournament with a 11-0 loss to Cloverdale on Dec. 29.

The pair of tournaments was the second and third events to occur in 麻豆社国产this year, after the Pee Wee A tournament that happened in October. Next up is the Atom A tournament in February from Feb. 7 to 9. Later this year is the Peewee C tournament and Bantam A tournament, both occurring in March.
