Summer isn’t exactly a time of rest for young Â鶹Éç¹ú²úathlete Linnea Uunila.Â
Coming off a division win with the Iron Maidens at the Â鶹Éç¹ú²úTriathlon in July, Uunila continued her success all across the province for the rest of the month.
She placed second of all females at the Sasamat Lake Canada Day swim to kick off the month and then 38th amongst all women at the Okanagan Lake Across the Lake swim on July 18. In both races, she competed against competitors of all ages.
Uunila then won the 12-to-13 age division at the TriKids Okanagan event on July 19 before winning the Gibsons Sea Cavalcade Surf and Turf Challenge on July 25 and 26. The two-day event sees racers run one mile through Gibsons and then swim from Keats Island back to Gibsons. She ended up third overall and first for all females.
The intense schedule continues for the Don Ross Secondary School student, with races in Abbotsford, Whistler and Buntzen Lake, to name a few, for the rest of the summer. She also plans to compete at the Rattlesnake Island swim in the Okanagan and the RBC Granfondo Whistler in September.
