It's been a pretty impressive year for Squamish's Linnea Uunila.
The 10-year-old has been busy competing in a number of different sports and was recently named SwimFaster's swimmer of the year for the 麻豆社国产branch of the team.
"Linnea has excelled not only as a great swimmer, achieving her Lower Mainland regional times that allow her to access higher levels of competition, but in other sports and in her academic performance," said SwimFaster's Juan Gomez. "She's a great role model for all 麻豆社国产kids."
Uunila, who is entering Grade 6 of the French immersion program at 麻豆社国产Elementary, achieved straight A's in all of her academics and as well as playing piano and performing at the 麻豆社国产Academy of Music. She also learned ballet at the Howe Sound Dance Academy, while engaging in several athletic competitions along the way.
She joined the running club at school and competed in several cross country skiing races in the winter, with a number of top-five finishes. In addition to her work at SwimFaster, Uunila has competed in a total of 10 triathlons this summer with strong showings in several. She also competed in her first open-water swim in Lake Okanagan.
