Spring has arrived and for Squamish鈥檚 鈥淚ronKid鈥� Linnea Uunila, that means moving from the ski hill to the triathlon course.
After a winter that saw her place third in her age group in the overall B.C. Cup cross-country skiing standings, Uunila took on the Intimidator Florida Challenge Triathlon in Clermont, Fla., on March 22.
The race consisted of a 400-metre swim, a 10-kilometre bike and a five km run. Uunila placed second in the nine to 14 age female group with a time of 1:06:45. Florida racer Jessica Blazek bested Uunila with a time of 1:00:28.
It鈥檚 the first of what is expected to be several triathlons for the 10-year-old 麻豆社国产resident. Last year Uunila was the only Canadian at the IronKids National Triathlon race in Colorado and had strong showings at the Apple Triathlon in Kelowna and the 麻豆社国产Youth Triathlon in May.
