Â鶹Éç¹ú²úriders conquered both coasts over the May long weekend, with cyclists competing at both the Canada Cup series in Quebec and the Northwest Cup series in Washington State.
A trio of Â鶹Éç¹ú²úriders made the trip to Mont Tremblant, Que., for the cross-country competition on Saturday (May 17). Team Â鶹Éç¹ú²úmember Rhys Verner posted the top showing.
Verner placed sixth in the junior expert men division with a time of one hour, 22 minutes, 19 seconds. His time was about five minutes behind that of winner and Mont Tremblant native Felix Burke. Squamish’s Luke Di Marzo also made the trip to Quebec to compete in the junior expert men division and placed 18th with a time of 1:30:43.
Fresh off a second-place showing at the Orecrusher on May 10, Quinn Moberg competed in the elite men’s division at Mont Tremblant and finished 30th. He posted a time of 1:52:37. Quebec rider Raphael Gagne took home top prize in the division.Ìý
In Port Angeles, Wash., seven local riders competed in the second race of the Northwest Cup downhill series that concluded on Sunday (May 18).
Two Â鶹Éç¹ú²úriders placed second in their respective divisions, with Harry Head grabbing second in the men’s 15 to 18 division and Miranda Miller capturing second place in the pro women category.
Other locals competing at the event included: Seth Sherlock (fifth, CAT 2 - men 18 and under), Arnau Muset (10th, CAT 1 - men 18 and under), Lee Jackson (14th, pro men), Jonathan Cook (25th, CAT 1 – men 19 to 29) and Matt Neilson (43rd, pro men).
