The strong play away from home continued for the Quest Kermodes women's soccer team, as the team picked up four out of a possible six points on the road.
The Kermodes travelled to take on arch-rival Capilano on Saturday (Oct. 6), with Quest picking up the 3-1 win. Jessica Freeman opened the scoring for the Kermodes, with Jamey Horth and Emily Ancil also adding goals. It was the team's biggest offensive output of the year and the Kermodes avenged a 3-2 loss suffered to the Blues in the season opener on Sept. 8.
Next stop for the team was Nanaimo for a date with the Vancouver Island University (VIU) Mariners on Sunday (Oct. 7). Nothing was settled after 90 minutes and the teams played to a scoreless tie.
Quest has a record of three wins, one loss and one tie on the road and has crawled back to .500 after a solid weekend. The Kermodes' overall record sits at four wins, four losses and two ties and they are in sole possession of the fourth and final playoff spot with four games left on the schedule.
It's an entirely different story for the men's team, which was shut out by wide margins in both their games, losing 5-0 to Capilano on Saturday and 6-0 to VIU on Sunday. Quest's record fell to zero wins, eight losses and two ties and the Kermodes continue to occupy the basement in the Pacwest conference.
Both teams will remain on the road this weekend, taking on Thompson Rivers University (TRU) on Saturday (Oct. 13) and UBC-Okanagan on Sunday (Oct. 14). The men's and women's teams will return to Quest field for the final weekend of the year, taking on Douglas College on Oct. 20 and Kwantlen on Oct. 21.
