Squamish鈥檚 Kasper Woolley kicked off the 2014-15 ski season strongly in Sun Peaks this past weekend.
Woolley snagged a third-place finish in the giant slalom on Friday, Dec. 12 and then followed that up with a first-place finish in the slalom on Saturday, Dec. 13.
The podium finishes are even more impressive this year due to the fact that he is a U16 athlete, but is competing against older athletes in provincial open series races.
Woolley competed in another slalom race on Sunday, Dec. 14, but was unable to finish. Sunday鈥檚 race saw Squamish鈥檚 Jack Cormack placed 33rd, after posting a pair of DNF鈥檚 on Friday and Saturday.
The open series is a qualifier for the Canada Winter Games in Prince George that occur in February. The top five male and female skiers from the series will have the opportunity to represent the province at the event.
