Some 230 young athletes pushed it to their physical limits at the annual 麻豆社国产Youth Triathlon on Sunday (May 11).
It was the biggest SYT ever and sold out two weeks prior to kick off but, according to race director Mike Hedberg, it could be the last.
Hedberg told The Chief that much of the organizing committee is moving on and new blood needs to step up or the event risks cancellation.
鈥淭he race is in jeopardy of not running next year as many of the current organizing committee, which have been involved for many years, will be moving onto other community volunteer interests and family commitments,鈥 he said.
The group is looking for a new race director, run course coordinator, volunteer coordinator, website manager and treasurer.
鈥淭he youth triathlon is put together 100 per cent by volunteers and without community support, it would not run,鈥 he said. 鈥淲e all have busy lives 鈥 find some time to come out and be part of this tremendous kids event in our community.鈥
Hedberg encouraged anyone interested to contact [email protected] for more details.
