You have to be a muckety muck in the film industry, basically.
For other contests, like the Emmy Awards, contestants have to pay to be considered.
For Canada’s Governor General Awards, you have to be nominated — there’s a lot of paperwork involved.
And to win, you have to be, well, the level of Deadpool superstar actor Ryan Reynolds, who was awarded the (Congratulations to Reynolds, well deserved.)
But with our awards, it is wide open. Anyone is eligible. Readers pick who they think is best. That is it.
Yes, we think Squamish’s Reader’s Choice Awards are as good as or even better than those of film and TV.
