Letter: Back to school — How to support all children in Squamish

'I do not need to know their sexual orientation.'
Avelino Gomez Back to school Squamish
"Regarding the story, 'Back to school: How to support your 2SLGBTQIA child,' published Sept. 1, I see no reason to spend valuable learning time in the classroom by focusing on the children's gender," says letter writer.

What happened to respect?

Regarding the story, “Back to school: How to support your 2SLGBTQIA child.” published Sept. 1, I see no reason to spend valuable learning time in the classroom by focusing on the children's gender.

What we need more of is Respect. Respect for colour, creed and sex.

As a person, I crave respect, and I am no different from any other person.

I do not need to know their sexual orientation.

Let every child develop, and that takes time; let them truly find themselves.

Do not let them see a new sexual “fad “ that looks interesting.

Teach them respect, that is all that is needed.
