Letter: B.C. government needs to look around Canada where paramedics are concerned

BC Emergency Health Services needs to up the game to attract new blood to fill the vacancies.

In regards to the story, “Shortage of paramedics in Squamish, says union,” published online Jan. 31, B.C. paramedics have been left in the dust by the rest of Canada.

Working on call at $2 an hour ended 30 years ago.

I am a  highly-skilled paramedic with family in B.C. I would love to come West.

But it simply is not cost-effective for me.

The massive pay cut and potentially working at night for $2

B.C. needs to look around Canada,  the province is beautiful, the paramedics amazing.

But the province needs to at least match other service wages and incentives.

I worry about B.C., my family and the paramedics who have had a horrible few years!
